Welcome to the online home of the Cleveland County Amateur Radio Service. The idea for the CCARS came about in late 2007 as two hams discussed the current need for an active amateur radio club with a focus on public service. To accomplish the goal of public service, recruiting and mentoring new hams as well as training of existing hams is critical. From that simple idea, the club was born. In March of 2008, the details were complete and the club was chartered. From there, the CCARS has only grown in popularity! Come join us on the third Tuesday of every month. All of our meetings consist of some form of continuing education, fellowship and a little bit of business. We want to help existing hams expand their skills and abilities. Every year, we participate in the ARRL© Field Day. This year, we will be participating in the Field Day activities from the campgrounds at Moss Lake in Kings Mountain, NC. For those interested in the emergency services aspect of amateur radio, our members are very active in ARES And SKYWARN. Another aspect of amateur radio service is the National Traffic System. The CCARS is a proud sponsor of the Southwest North Carolina Traffic Net. The SWNCTN is the first traffic net in the western portion of North Carolina in more than a decade and a half. |
